CPD conducting community outreach event at Wilson Homes
Numerous Columbus police officials are working to reduce crime in the city by talking with the community. This afternoon, officials are in Wilson Homes going door-to-door seeking information.
The proactive policing comes after several homicides and shootings over the past 7 weekends, and lately the shooting of a six-year-old boy who remains in grave condition.
During a press conference yesterday, the department’s Deputy Chief of Administrative Services, Roderick Graham, talked about one of the resources, which is in full force this afternoon. “You are going to see a group of young men and women out there in the neighborhoods that will be very engaged in the neighborhoods going possibly from door-to-door, from time-to-time, seeking help, seeking information, and if you see those individuals out there as I already stated just share what you know, let us know what you know,” Graham said.
A CNAW2News.com spotted Police Chief Stoney Mathis, along with Assistant Chief of Police, Debra Kennedy, along with nearly 30 other law enforcement officers, some of whom are with Motor Squad. The DARE truck was also at the apartment complex.
