Juvenile offenders apprehended in Harris County firearm theft investigation
Two juveniles are facing charges in a Harris County firearm theft investigation.
The investigation began on May 9, 2024, when Harris County deputies were called to the area of Hunter Road in reference to two Entering Auto calls where several firearms were taken.
“Based on the initial investigation, two juveniles from the Carpenter’s Way Ranch were identified as the offenders, and both were taken into custody and transported to RYDC,” the sheriff’s office said. Both parties were charged with 1 count of entering automobile (Felony). At that time, there was one firearm recovered by the responding deputies. During the follow up investigation on May 10, 2024, it was determined that there were other vehicles broken into and several firearms also taken from those vehicles.
“With this information, we coordinated with Dr. Finney to stop the movement of the three school buses that the offenders would normally take to school,” the sheriff’s office added. The K9 unit from Troup County Sheriff’s Office was deployed to search for firearms on all three buses as a precaution and no firearms were located.
Investigators then relocated to Carpenter’s Way Ranch and with the permission of the Director, the wood line was searched for additional evidence. During the search, Deputies and Investigators located 3 more firearms and several airsoft pistols. “All responsible parties are in custody, and there is no threat to the community,” the press release from the sheriff’s office read. “Additional charges are forthcoming and the recovered firearms will be returned to their rightful owners.”
