CPD: Search warrant uncovers animal cruelty, drugs, firearm, and stolen vehicle
A search warrant in Columbus has uncovered animal cruelty, drugs, firearm, and a stolen vehicle.
The Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Chesterfield Avenue following a tip about several dogs being chained outside without proper shelter or access to water on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 11:57 a.m.
“During a walkthrough of the backyard, members of the Special Operations Unit observed several dogs that appeared underweight, lacked access to food and water, and showed signs of injury,” police said. “Equipment on the property suggested potential involvement in dog fighting activities.”

Animal Control rescued seven adult dogs and ten puppies from the property. The animals are currently being assessed and treated by a veterinarian for injuries.
