“Case is considered closed”: Double shooting in Troup County ruled accidental
A double shooting case in Troup County is now closed following interviews with one of the victims.
The shooting occurred at a residence in the 1600 block of Bartley Road on June 4, 2024, at approximately 10:41 PM. Deputies and first responders discovered a 15-year-old male and a 10-year-old female, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Immediate life-saving measures were administered to both victims, who were then transported to Wellstar West Georgia Emergency Department.
After investigators interviewed the female, as well as learning new details, investigators determined it was a tragic accident in the matter of the 15 year old shooting the 10 year old and there was no criminal intent. “We have also determined, after that shooting, the 15 year old did shoot himself,” according to the sheriff’s office
Both victims remain receiving medical treatment at an Atlanta hospital.
“We ask that you continue to pray for this family as they are dealing with two tragedies,” the sheriff’s office added. “At this time this case is considered closed and no further updates will be given at this time.”
