Second woman passes away at hospital following Macon Road crash
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says a second woman has died following a serious head-on collision Saturday afternoon.
The collision, which involved a Silver Toyota RAV4 and a blue Honda Civic, occurred at the intersection of Macon Road and Flat Rock Road near Schatulga Road in the afternoon hours of Saturday, June 8, 2024.
The first fatality in the wreck was identified as 62-year-old Tonya Lumpkin-Dees. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said Sunday morning that a second woman passed away from injuries related to the crash. The second fatality was identified as 81-year-old Eleanor Burney. Burney was pronounced dead at Piedmont Columbus Regional Intensive Care Unit.
Both victims will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations for an autopsy.
