Phenix City man shot, killed at The District apartment complex
Phenix City police are investigating the second homicide for the East Alabama city this week.
The latest homicide occurred at 2 P.M. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at The District of Phenix City apartment complex between Chattahoochee Valley Community College and Highway 431 on College Drive.
Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. says 52-year-old Christopher Bernard Womack, of Phenix City, was pronounced dead at 2:43 P.M. from a gunshot wound. Womack will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
It is unclear if any arrests were made.
