Threat made on social media to Columbus High; officials investigating
Columbus Police Department and the Muscogee County School District Police Department are investigating a threat to a local high school.
Columbus High School’s Principal Sonya Allen addressed the threat in an email and phone call to parents of students Thursday afternoon.
According to the call, it was discovered that threats on social media were made regarding Columbus High School. After an investigation, an individual has now been identified as part of the ongoing investigation.
“We will continue to monitor the situation, and the investigation is ongoing. All students and staff are safe,” Allen said. “We encourage our parents to remind their students to immediately report any suspicious or threatening activity to the school administration or a staff member and not to share or repost on social media. Individuals who post or reshare such activity are subject to disciplinary action.”
A police presence remains at the school, according to our CNAW2News.com crew on scene.
