Property crimes investigation leads to multiple arrests
Columbus police have made multiple arrests in an ongoing property crimes investigation.
Police announced today that on October 23, 2024, they arrested three suspects connected to a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts. Dijon Jackson, 33, Kmack Hunt, 23, and Jason Williams, 35, were arrested after attempting to flee on foot from officers responding to a domestic call.
“Our Property Crimes Unit detectives, who had been investigating a vehicle break-in from earlier in the month, had identified Jackson as a suspect after reviewing bank records and surveillance footage,” police said. “The victim’s stolen bank cards had been used at a local convenience store, leading detectives to connect Jackson to the crime.”
Following the recent arrests, Patrol Officers discovered stolen property inside an apartment, leading them to request assistance from our Property Crimes Unit.
“A search of the apartment revealed a large number of stolen items including bank cards, clothing, lawn equipment, and burglary tools,” police stated. Detectives were able to link these items to recent vehicle break-ins in the Forest Avenue, Wynnton Road, and 13th Street areas.
“These cases could potentially clear up to 20 additional reports of theft. Several charges are pending,” police added. “Thanks to the hard work and collaboration between Patrol and detectives, multiple crimes have been solved, with further investigations ongoing.”
