Teen dies days after Columbus house fire
Heartbreaking news has been released following a Columbus house fire earlier this month.
The fire occurred during the overnight hours on December 1, 2024 on Branton Woods Drive. A teenager was transported from the fire scene and taken to a nearby hospital.
Today, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, the teenager, identified as 16-year-old Ty’Qwan June was pronounced deceased at 4:58 P.M. at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Bryan says the teenager died from hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy / respiratory failure due to Smoke inhalation of a combustible product.
Following the house fire, family and friends set up a GoFundMe to help the family.
“With Christmas being this month, we want to make sure all of their basic needs of clothing, shoes, and day-to-day supplies are provided, but we also want to make sure she can provide a Christmas for them as well,” the GoFundMe said. To donate, click here.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Ty’Quan’s family and friends.
