Original story: LaGrange police have arrested a man after he kidnapped a 3 month old baby following the end of a relationship and argument with the child’s mother.
The events began on December 19, 2024, at 3:35 PM, when LaGrange Police Officers and Detectives responded to a kidnapping in progress at 115 Youngs Mill Road.
“The investigation revealed that Jesus Javier Perdomo Fanaite had an argument with his child’s mother, Michell Castillo, earlier that morning at the Motel 6 located at 1513 Lafayette Parkway after she decided to end their relationship,” police said. During the argument, Castillo threatened to call 911, prompting Perdomo to snatch her phone and leave the location. Castillo contacted a family member using a bystander’s phone.
Castillo then went to the LaGrange Mall at 1501 Lafayette Parkway, where Perdomo followed and continued the argument. Police were dispatched to the mall but Perdomo had left before they arrived.
Castillo subsequently went to 115 Youngs Mill Road. While she was removing her 3-month-old son from her vehicle, Perdomo arrived, snatched the child from her hands, and fled the scene, police added..
Detectives later located Perdomo in another vehicle and took him into custody without incident. The baby was safely returned to Castillo at 5:42 PM. Perdomo was transported to the Troup County Jail and charged with robbery by sudden snatching FVA, interference with a 911 call, kidnapping FVA, and stalking FVA.
