Man arrested for Capital Murder after Christmas Eve double homicide in Beulah community
An 18-year-old has been arrested for Capital Murder after a double homicide Christmas Eve afternoon in the Beulah community of Lee County.
The ordeal began around 3:48 P.M. CST on Christmas Eve on Lee Road 2113 off of U.S. Highway 29 N when deputies responded to shots fired.
Deputies encountered an 18-year-old male and discovered two females, ages 18 and 19 years old, who had suffered what appeared to be gunshot wounds and were unresponsive.
Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton pronounced the two females deceased at the scene. Sexton identified the deceased victims as 18-year-old Madison Daly and 19-year-old Kayden Lynch. “Though not related, both victims listed their driver’s license address as the residence where the shooting took place,” the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators say the male had reportedly assaulted his mother, who lives next door to the residence where the victims were discovered, and had taken a handgun from the mother’s residence. “Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots shortly before the 911 call was received by the Sheriff’s Office,” they added. “Evidence indicates that after assaulting his mother, he left her residence and went to the next-door residence where the victims were found. Two 9-year-old twin females had been at the residence but left just prior to the shooting.”
The 18-year-old male has been taken into custody and faces Capital Murder charges. According to jail docket information, Jalen Dashawn Holmes was charged with two counts of domestic violence, 1 count of attempted murder, and 2 counts of Capital Murder (two or more victims.
The deceased victims will be transported by the Lee County Coroners Office to ADFS Montgomery Medical for postmortem examination.
