Vehicle, train involved in Smiths Station crash
Smiths Station and Lee County first responders are on the scene of a train-involved collision Saturday afternoon.
The collision occurred at the railroad crossing on Lee Road 223 at Lee Road 430 around 1:20 P.M. CDT on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says 19-year-old male was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional in critical condition.
Alabama Law EnforcementAgency, along with Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Smiths Station Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Members of Norfolk Southern were also on scene to investigate.
