LaGrange Fire Dept. responds to overnight structure fire
LaGrange fire officials responded to an overnight structure fire that left over ten thousand in damages.
The fire occurred in the 200 block of Bell Street around 3:15 A.M. on March 13, 2025. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered a single-story wood-framed structure fully engulfed in flames, with fire visible from every window and the roof.
“Engine 1 quickly initiated firefighting efforts as additional units arrived on the scene to assist. Engine 4 provided backup, and Engine 5 was assigned to a secondary line for more effective fire control,” fire officials said. “After Truck 32 established a water supply, Engine 1 deployed a deck gun. Several sections of the roof and walls collapsed in the early moments of the response, and the fire was brought under control approximately 10 minutes after units arrived.”
The structure was searched and determined to be vacant and no injuries were reported. “However, the extent of the fire damage, combined with the building’s poor condition, made further investigation impossible,” fire officials added.
According to the LaGrange Police Department, there have been reports of people living in the abandoned structure on and off over the years.
The property’s total value was estimated at $15,740, and it has been deemed a total loss.
