Special operation underway by Columbus law enforcement
A special operation appears to be taking place this weekend battling certain crimes in the city. Columbus Police and Georgia state troopers chased down a sports car down Victory Drive around 8 PM.
Law enforcement including Columbus Police, Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol are involved in the operation. A helicopter has also been searching the area for close to 2 hours and 30 minutes between the area of Wynnton Road all the way down to Oakland Park and only reaching past southern parts of I-185 and the river.
The helicopter took off from Columbus Airport and returned back shortly around 10:30 PM.
Traffic stops have also been made from the Civic Center area to South Lumpkin Road. Currently, the police presence remains close to the Oakland Park area.
No other details have been confirmed.
