Man dies in surgery after being shot in the early morning hours of Palm Sunday on Fort Benning Road
An assault investigation has now turned into a homicide investigation after a Columbus man had died during surgery in the Piedmont Columbus Regional Surgery Unit.
43-year-old David Brown was shot in front of his apartment complex at 714 Fort Benning Road near the roundabout around 4 AM on Palm Sunday, April 10th, 2022. Brown went in for surgery Monday afternoon and was pronounced deceased at 5:00PM, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
Brown will go up for an autopsy due to the projectile still in his body and his death being a homicide, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said.
