BLUE ALERT issued for Alabama deputy after going missing during transport of Capital Murder suspect
A statewide BLUE ALERT was issued after a Lauderdale County, Alabama deputy went missing during a transport of a capital murder suspect Friday.
A Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office employee, identified as Assistant Director of Corrections Vicki White, left the detention center with Inmate Casey Cole White this morning on the way to the court house for a mental evaluation of Casey White around 9:30 AM. The sheriff later confirmed there was no mental evaluation scheduled. Vicki told the booking staff at the detention center that she was going to drop the inmate off along with other deputies at the court house and also meet with the medical staff because she was not feeling well. The sheriff confirmed no appointment was made to see the staff. Vicki and Casey are not related and have not been seen since, and the fact that the two are missing was not realized until approximately 3:30 p.m. this date.
Casey White is being held on capital murder charges. The vehicle the two left the detention center in has been located in the parking lot of a local shopping center.
“Investigators are currently attempting to locate any video that may tell us more about what we’re dealing with,” the office said.
Vicki White is 38 years of age, with salt and pepper hair, hazel eyes, and tattoos on both arms. Casey White stands at 6’6” and weighs 252 pounds.
Casey White is believed to be a serious threat to the corrections officer and the public. If you have any information regarding this suspect, please contact the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 366-3006; or call 911.
UPDATE: U.S. Marshals Offers Rewards up to $10,000 for Escapee Wanted for Capital Murder and Endangered Correctional Officer. These are the most current photos of inmate Casey White. LCSO continues to work with state and federal agencies in following leads and investigating the escape. At this time there is no other significant updated information to pass along. A press conference will be held tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. We also understand the 17-year ‘exemplary’ deputy turned in her retirement papers 24 hours before she disappeared.
