A nationwide manhunt continues for an “exemplary” deputy and a capital murder suspect
The search for Vicky White and Casey Cole White began Friday, April 29th, 2022 when Vicky White left the detention center around 9:31 AM with Inmate Casey Cole White – who had shackled feet and cuffed hands in front of him – as they were headed to a “scheduled mental evaluation” at the court house, just a couple minutes away from each other. The sheriff Rick Singleton later confirmed that was not true and no mental evaluation was scheduled.
But that wasn’t the only lie Vicky told that morning. Vicky told the booking staff at the detention center that she was going to drop the inmate off along with other deputies at the court house and also meet with the medical staff at a local doctors office because she was not feeling well. The sheriff confirmed no appointment was made to see the staff.
After hours of examining surveillance tape, they had a lead. A camera spotted her patrol vehicle at an intersection nearly 8 minutes away from the detention center headed toward Cox Creek Shopping Center.
The vehicle the two left the detention center in was located around 11:30 AM on Friday by a police officer in the parking lot of a local shopping center – named Cox Creek.
“The booking officer, at 3:30 PM, reported to Administration that they have been trying to contact AD White to check on her and that her phone is going directly to voice mail. She also advises that Inmate Casey White was not returned to the detention center with the other inmates,” authorities said. “The Administrator immediately contacts sheriff’s office and officers begin a search of the courthouse to determine if inmate White is still in the building.”
Over the next several minutes on Friday it was determined that Casey White was not in the courthouse and that there was no court appearance or evaluation scheduled. Security footage was reviewed, and it was discovered that Vicky White never arrived at the courthouse.
Within a matter of hours, a Blue Alert was issued. The alert read: Lauderdale CO white female corrections officer. Vicky White, missing in the line of duty. Suspect is a white male, inmate Casey White. Casey white is a 38 year old white male, 6′ 6″ weighing 252 pounds. Vehicle was located in a parking lot in Florence, AL. Direction of travel is unknown. Call 911 if seen or if you have information
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Weapons, Federal Bureau of Investigations, U.S. Marshals, and many other agencies began looking into this. US Marshals later offered a $10,000 reward for Casey Coke White and a $5,000 reward for Vicky White after the sheriff announced warrants were made for the arrest of Vicky for helping in this alleged planned escape.
It was also determined by investigators that Vicky and Casey had a “special relationship” since 2020 as information about Vicky virtually visiting and calling Casey when he was in state prison. Other details of that exact relationship has not been announced. Vicky also sold her home back nearly a month ago for $95,000 which means it’s possible she has that money with her. Vicky also turned retirement papers in on Thursday and was set to retire on Friday but due to her escape plan with Casey she was fired by her boss, Sheriff Rick Singleton, and will lose her pension.
Tuesday morning, a north Alabama police department released a “law enforcement sensitive” wanted poster that announced what weapons they may have, why Vicky is also known as, and the vehicle they are in. It is believed that they have an AR-15 rifle and a shotgun. Vicky is also known as: April Davis or Renee Marie Maxwell. The White’s (not related) fled in a Gold/Copper 2007 Ford Edge with VIN #2FMDK39C67BA32790 with damage to the left rear bumper. Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office released video of Vicky and Casey walking out into Vicky’s now-abandoned patrol car.
If you have any information regarding these two, please contact the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 366-3006; or call 911.
