“It’s unnerving to go to work”: Employee says after robberies at Family Dollars in Columbus
Family Dollars in the city of Columbus are under attack by the same suspect, who is an unidentified male.
The attack on the convenience stores began Sunday when the Family Dollar on South Lumpkin Road was robbed, shortly thereafter the Family Dollar on Farr Road was robbed as well.
Monday, the suspect was back at it again as he robbed the Steam Mill Road Family Dollar and the Buena Vista Road at Amber Drive Family Dollar. Tuesday – no armed robberies were reported.
Wednesday – the suspect reportedly robbed the Family Dollar, in the 3100 block of Veterans Parkway.
We spoke with an anonymous employee of a Family Dollar who believe this is happening to the Family Dollar’s in Columbus because of the lack of law enforcement presence in the areas. “I believe people have gotten very bold and that when they keep getting away with something they just get bolder,” the employee said.
It’s very unnerving going into work as an employee as the streak of the robberies continue. “It makes you feel like you are playing Russian Roulette and it makes you wonder is this job worth it,” they said.
Employees feel at some point they may be staying for each other and not really the company itself.
Many citizens asked CNAW News 2 what employees could do if this happened again, so we asked that question. “We can not have fire arms at work or any other weapons. We do have robbery instructions per our company but no one really knows what they will do until it happens.”
Authorities are still investigating into the motive of these robberies.
