Teen granted Youthful Offender status in fatal Auburn crash now arrested on child porn charges
An Auburn teen who was the suspect in the fatal May 2019 crash that killed The Voice of Auburn Tigers, Rod, and his wife, Paula Bramblett, on Shug Jordan Parkway has been arrested again.
19-year-old Johnston Edward Taylor was arrested by Auburn Police on Thursday for six counts of possession of child pornography. The arrest stems from Auburn Police and members of the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force initiating an investigation on June 7, 2022.
Johnston Edward Taylor was developed as a suspect, and after the execution of a search warrant and collection of other related evidence, he was arrested and charged.
Taylor was given the Youthful Offender status in April of 2021 due to the the defendant being a 16 year old teenager (at the time of the crash) with no prior criminal history, who had smoked or used marijuana and had been diagnosed with marijuana use disorder. “None of this justifies what happened; however, it does lend itself to treatment as a Youthful Offender,” the court records said back on April 13th of 2021 when the Youthful Offender status was granted.
Taylor was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $60,000 bond.
