Columbus grandmother killed – city’s first homicide of the year

The first homicide of 2022 is officially down in the books after a 71-year-old was shot and killed on Delray Drive in east Columbus around 3PM on January 16th.

71-year-old Barbara Luke was pronounced deceased at 2:45PM by Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. The family has been notified.

There is a black vehicle which appears to have struck multiple objects within the large crime scene. Homicide and crime scene investigators are on the scene.

This is the first homicide of the year and the fifth person shot this year.
