Columbus woman arrested in involuntary manslaughter of her dad, police say

A death investigation is underway after a Columbus man suffered fatal, visible injuries and his daughter is facing charges.

The investigation began on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 8:45 p.m., when Jerry Faulkner was transported by EMS to St. Francis Hospital because he went into cardiac arrest.

An emergency room doctor pronounced Faulkner deceased at 8:56 p.m. Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison was called to the hospital to work the case.

“The paramedics alerted our officers at the hospital that Faulkner had visible injuries on his face and neck,” police said.

Officers then responded to the 2000 block of Wellborn Drive – the location where Faulkner was picked up by EMS.

After speaking to witnesses, the Homicide Unit was called to take lead on the investigation. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed Faulker is being sent for an autopsy.

Police said probable cause was established to arrest and charge Marisa Faulkner, the victim’s daughter, with Involuntary Manslaughter and Battery.
