Columbus police have arrested a second suspect in the shooting of a child
The shooting occurred after midnight on May 1, 2024, on Tracy Street in the city.
6-year-old Cameron Thomas was shot multiple times and taken to a children’s hospital in Atlanta.
After an extensive investigation, Makaliah Briscoe was arrested for 4 counts of Aggravated Assault later that morning and warrants were issued for for a 16 year old male and Robert Walker, 20.
“On May 6, 2024, the 16 year old turned himself in to the Talbot County Sheriff’s Department in Talbot County, Georgia and was brought back to Columbus and placed into RYDC,” police said. He will have a hearing in Juvenile Court on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. His charges are Aggravated Assault (4 counts) and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime.

Robert Walker has outstanding warrants for 4 counts of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. Walker is considered Armed and Dangerous.
