A teenager is wanted after one person was killed and another was injured in a Phenix City shooting Sunday evening.

Police responded to the shooting incident on June 9, 2024, at approximately 8:40 PM at 705 16th St and found 26 year old Mike Adams Jr. deceased from a gunshot wound. 

“The Criminal Investigations Division arrived on scene and began an investigation,” police said. 

During the course of the investigation, another victim was discovered. Police made contact with 26-year-old Japaris Vaughn who had a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Vaughn was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment. 

A warrant has been issued for a 17 year old juvenile from Phenix City for capital murder, according to police. This is still an ongoing investigation.
