UPDATE 6: GBI has confirmed arrest warrants have been issued for Ira Troy Williams wanted for Aggravated Assault against a police officer for shooting at Troopers during the car chase.

He was last seen running into the woods near Highway 29 at Calico Loop, Grantville, GA.
UPDATE 5: GBI has released the identity of the man who state and local law enforcement are searching for in Grantville right now. His name is Ira Troy Willams, age 51.
A GSP Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Cruze traveling southbound on Interstate 85 (I-85). The driver, Williams, provided his driver’s license to the Trooper performing the traffic stop. Williams then drove away from the scene, traveling southbound on I-85, leading to a car chase by GSP.
Williams apparently fired several shots during the pursuit. When the pursuit ended in the city of Grantville, he fled on foot firing multiple shots striking one of the GSP K9s. The K9 is in stable condition. Williams remains on the run in a wooded area off of Hwy. 29 in Grantville.
UPDATE 4: According to Georgia State Patrol: On December 18, 2024, at 1:48 pm, a member of the Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU) conducted a traffic stop on I-85 in Coweta County for a traffic violation. The male suspect, however, fled the scene, initiating a pursuit traveling southbound on I-85. During the pursuit, he fired a weapon at law enforcement as he fled. DPS K-9, Amor, was struck by gunfire from the male.
The male continued fleeing south on I-85, eventually exiting the highway before stopping in a wooded area and fled on foot. Currently, the male suspect remains at large, and law enforcement agencies are actively searching for him. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been called in to investigate the officer-involved shooting and will be handling all inquiries related to this incident.
K-9 Amor is currently in stable condition and is receiving veterinary medical care.
UPDATE 3: Numerous resources and agencies are still located at the active manhunt. Suspect remains outstanding.

UPDATE 2: According to Newnan Coweta Scanner Traffic, the K9 that was shot was assessed at SweetWater Vet Hospital and was determined to be stable but was in need of immediate orthopedic surgery. GSP elected to life flight the K9 for surgery at Blue Peral in Sandy Springs to ensure quick treatment.
UPDATE 1: A law enforcement canine was shot during the manhunt and flown to Blue Pearl Hospital in Sandy Springs, according to the city of Sandy Springs. It is a possible Georgia State Patrol canine.

ORIGINAL STORY: A manhunt is underway near the Troup County/Coweta County line in the city limits of Grantville Wednesday afternoon.
The manhunt is taking place on Highway 29 South at Calico Loop.
Newnan Coweta Scanner Traffic confirms the manhunt is underway for a male suspect who is armed with a possible long rifle.
We are being told the manhunt began when the suspect foot-bailed from a pursuit that involved shots fired. Nearby Glanton Elementary has implemented a soft lockdown while the search is ongoing.
Numerous resources are being deployed at the scene. “Those in the area are asked to get inside and lock the doors and report any suspicious activity,” the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office says.
