Opelika police are investigating a shots fired incident Thursday night at a packed restaurant along busy Gateway Drive, just off from main Interstate 85.

The shots fired incident occurred at Longhorn on Gateway Drive.

“There were no reported injuries however, witnesses at the scene identified a subject who was leaving as the shooter and they were detained,” Opelika police confirmed. “It was later determined the individual was not involved and was released.”

Officers are still investigating. There is no danger to the public at this time, according to police.
