A Columbus man has been identified as the latest homicide victim in the city.

The shooting occurred around 3:15 P.M. on April 23, 2025, in the 5700 block of Teresa Street near Amber Drive just behind the ballfields at Kendrick High School.

The victim was found by officers next to a white Lincoln Towncar and was given immediate lifesaving treatment on scene. The victim, now identified as 39-year-old Deangelo McCarter, was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he was pronounced dead at 4:02 P.M., according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. The Lincoln Towncar had at least one bullet defect to the driver’s side window.

The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the deadly shooting. It is unclear, at this time, if any suspects were arrested.
