Columbus man shot, killed while laying in bed Tuesday morning

A Columbus man has died following a shooting early Tuesday morning.

The drive-by shooting occurred on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 5:40 A.M. in the 6100 block of Stone Way Drive.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says 21-year-old Hernandez Hubbard was transported from Piedmont Columbus Regional to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and was pronounced dead at 2:59 P.M.

Hubbard was in bed when the shooting occurred, sat up, and was struck by gunfire, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. His family has been notified. An autopsy will be performed.
