During Smith’s tenure on the City Council, Opelika has added over 5,000 new jobs, attracted more than $2 billion in capital investments, and saw a 25% reduction in overall crime. Since 2006, the total value of housing construction has exceeded $1 billion, and the city has prioritized beautification efforts to improve citizens’ quality of life. Smith has run his campaign on faith, family, and service.

Smith issued a statement on social media saying, “Thank you Opelika! I am so honored and humbled to be elected as your next Mayor. It is such a blessing to serve this amazing place. Opelika is my home, and I’m excited to get work to make it better for each and every person who lives here!”
