Auburn University issues statement following murder of retired veterinary professor

Auburn University has issued a statement following the murder of a retired veterinary professor.

“Julie Gard Schnuelle, DVM, Ph.D., was a beloved member of the Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and the Auburn Family. She served as a faculty member in the Department of Clinical Sciences in the Large Animal/Food Animal section from 2003 to 2021, when she retired as a professor emerita,” the university stated.

Dr. Schnuelle was found dead at Auburn’s Kiesel Park from injuries connected to an assault.

Dr. Schnuelle’s red Ford F-150 was discovered missing from an area near the crime scene. Police are requesting any sightings of the vehicle to be reported to the Auburn Police Department.

“Auburn sends our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Dr. Gard Schnuelle during this unimaginably difficult time,” the statement added.
