Mayor confirms tragic loss after isolated shooting incident in LaFayette Friday night

One person has died and an arrest was made following an isolated shooting incident Friday night in LaFayette.

The shooting occurred at a home at the intersection of Alabama Avenue E at Seventh Street NE. Officers and EMS, who were close by at LaFayette High football stadium, quickly responded to the scene.

The City of LaFayette’s Mayor Kenneth Vines confirmed a tragic loss occurred in their beloved city.

“Echoing others who have already posted, this incident was not related to last night’s football game and should not be associated with LaFayette High School and the City of LaFayette,” Vines said.

According to authorities, the incident was isolated and an arrest has been made.
