Suspect arrested in Brookstone murder identified

The suspect arrested in the Brookstone murder has been identified, according to jail records obtained by CNAW2News.com.

The suspect is identified as 26-year-old Antanvious Tyrese Butler.

He was booked into the Muscogee County Jail at 8:41 P.M. on charges of home invasion, murder, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies

The suspect was arrested Tuesday night by the Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations and Violent Crimes units.

The arrests comes nearly 24 hours after 65-year-old Norman Lane was found shot to death from shotgun-type wounds inside of his Brookstone Boulevard residence.

It is believed that Lane was shot and killed during a home invasion, where the suspect forced entry into the home leading to the deadly shooting. Lane’s handgun was found lying next to him.

The investigation remains ongoing by investigators. Butler is scheduled for his first court appearance in Recorder’s Court on October 10, 2025 at 1:30 P.M.
