Police chase near primary school ends in arrest; suspect charged with multiple offenses

An arrest has been made after the The Eufaula Police Department responded Wednesday afternoon to a disturbance near a local primary school involving a man reportedly yelling obscenities from an SUV.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the area around 2:40 p.m. Upon arrival, an officer attempted to make contact with the individual, who then fled the scene, initiating a vehicle pursuit near the school grounds.

During the chase, the suspect allegedly rammed an EPD patrol vehicle several times before officers were able to bring the vehicle to a stop on Rivers Avenue.

The driver was identified as Warren S. Gilmore, 73, of Eufaula. Police said further investigation revealed that Gilmore was under the influence at the time of the incident.

Gilmore was arrested and charged with the following offenses Assault 2nd Degree, Attempt to Elude (Felony), two counts of Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief, and several traffic citations.

No serious injuries were reported.
