Former Habitat for Humanity building in Phenix City catches on fire

Over the weekend, Phenix City fire officials responded to a fully engulfed fire at a building.

The fire took place at the former Habitat for Humanity, located at 802 16th Street, around 6:30 a.m. on December 26, 2025.

Fire officials on scene extinguished heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof area. Extensive damage could be seen following the fire.

We are told no injuries were reported in the incident. At this time, it is unclear what caused the fire. An investigation remains ongoing.
