Suspect arrested after deadly Opelika apartment complex shooting

Opelika police have announced the identity of the suspect arrested in the apartment complex shooting earlier today.

The shooting broke out around 10:56 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Arbor Place Apartments on Fox Run Parkway.

The shooting left a female with multiple gunshot wounds inside of a white Ford Explorer. Officers gave lifesaving measures, but the measures were unsuccessful and the female was pronounced dead on scene at 11:05 a.m. by Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton. The female was identified as 38-year-old Alisa Shaquita Andrell Patton.

The explorer had over eight gunshot defects to it and appeared to be crashed into an apartment.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Marc John Love, was taken into custody at the scene by an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency state trooper. The trooper was in the area when the gunshots sounded and the call was placed, leading to his quick response.

Love was originally charged with murder, but that charge has been updated to capital murder of a person inside of a vehicle. Love is also charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. Opelika detectives are actively investigating the circumstances and motive surrounding the shooting.
