A Newnan man is facing charges after investigators say he followed four teenage girls for several miles, leading to a confrontation that left him injured.

According to a news release from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 11:22 p.m. on April 11 to a residence on Hamilton Road in reference to a reported fight with injuries.

When deputies arrived, they made contact with a man who appeared to have sustained physical injuries. The case was then turned over to the agency’s Criminal Investigations Division.

Authorities identified the man as Marshall Phillip Taylor, 40, of Newnan. During the investigation, officials determined that Taylor had followed four teenage females from a local business to a residence over several miles.

Investigators say once the group arrived at the home, concerned homeowners confronted Taylor out of fear for their safety and the safety of the juveniles. During that confrontation, force was used against Taylor, resulting in his injuries.

Based on the findings, warrants were obtained charging Taylor with stalking and simple assault.

Taylor was taken into custody without incident on April 15 by the Valley Police Department. He was later transported to the Troup County Jail on April 21.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have experienced a similar encounter involving Taylor to contact Investigator James Robson at 706-883-1616.
