Kitchen worker arrested in Troup County Jail contraband scheme; another suspect Sought

A contracted kitchen worker at the Troup County Jail has been arrested following a narcotics investigation into a contraband smuggling operation involving inmates and outside accomplices, according to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the investigation, led by the agency’s Narcotics Division, revealed that Eugenia A. Watson, of LaGrange, conspired with two others to distribute prohibited items inside the jail. The items reportedly included marijuana, “K2 strips,” and cigarettes, which were intended for an inmate worker within the facility.

Watson has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Crossing the Guard Lines with Drugs and Conspiracy to Commit Items Prohibited for Possession by Inmates.

An inmate identified as Christopher Barnard Hill was also charged in connection to the scheme. He faces Conspiracy to Commit Crossing the Guard Lines and Conspiracy to Commit Items Prohibited for Possession by Inmates.

Investigators say a third individual, Quincy Jermon Hill, also played a role in the conspiracy but remains at large. Authorities are actively seeking his whereabouts.

“Anyone caught bringing contraband into the jail—or attempting to—whether inmate, employee, or citizen, will be charged to the fullest extent of the law,” Woodruff said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
