An investigation is underway following an incident within the Lee County Jail that was caught on video.
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, a post on Facebook shared surveillance video of an incident involving an unidentified inmate and a Lee County deputy. The video appears to show the inmate being tased after approaching a cell window where another inmate was located.

Following the incident, two unidentified female correctional deputies are seen laughing and walking out of camera view, while a male correctional deputy appears to assist another deputy with the inmate.
CNAW2News.com immediately reached out to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones, who confirmed an ongoing investigation is underway. The investigation is standard whenever a use of force incident occurs, Jones said. Use of force incident investigation determine if the actions used were appropriate.
“Video evidence is just one element of the investigation which has numerous elements involved,” Jones said.
Jones says appropriate actions will be taken in a professional manner after a thorough investigation.
“Also, if violation of established policy and procedure is founded, it will be addressed,” Jones said. “Never have we nor will we ever tolerate mistreatment of any individual in our care and custody.”
