Smiths Station, Salem fire crews respond to Tuesday night fire

Firefighters responded to a Tuesday night fire in an eastern Lee County neighborhood.

The fire broke out around 9:40 p.m. eastern time on May 5, 2026, at a home in the 100 block of Lee Road 2009, near Lee Road 412. The home is located in a neighborhood off of Lee Road 212 in the Phenix City area of the county.

Smiths Station Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, along with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Salem Volunteer Fire Department.

Smiths Station Fire Chief Blake Green says the fire was contained to laundry room and was extinguished minutes after crews arrived on scene.

No injuries were reported to the occupants or the firefighters who responded.
