LaGrange police arrest suspect in 2025 Houston Street homicide

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in LaGrange last year.

According to the LaGrange Police Department, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division obtained an arrest warrant on June 2, 2026, charging Xavian Woodyard with Malice Murder in connection with the death of Rashidi Grant.

Authorities said Woodyard was taken into custody without incident at approximately 12:21 p.m. on June 2.

The arrest stems from a homicide investigation that began on November 9, 2025, when officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence located at 1006 Houston Street at approximately 8:35 p.m.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the location and assumed control of the investigation. Following several months of investigative work, detectives secured the murder warrant against Woodyard.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
