A man charged in connection with a shooting that occurred in Lanett last month has turned himself in to authorities, according to Lanett police.

Police said Jeremiah McGilbery, one of two suspects wanted in connection with a shooting that took place on May 24, 2026, in the 3000 block of 18th Street Southwest, voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement on June 2.

Following an investigation into the incident, warrants were obtained for McGilbery and Allen Foster. McGilbery has been charged with attempted murder and is currently being held at the Chambers County Jail pending further court proceedings.

Authorities said Foster remains at large, and investigators are actively seeking information regarding his whereabouts.

The Lanett Police Department said it remains committed to thoroughly investigating violent crimes and ensuring those accused of criminal offenses are brought before the judicial system.

As the case moves through the legal process, police emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
