Columbus man arrested in connection with May shooting on Lakeside Drive

Columbus man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a victim seriously injured last month.

According to the Columbus Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call in the 3600 block of Lakeside Drive on May 14, 2026, at approximately 11:46 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The department’s Violent Crimes Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation. Detectives subsequently identified 22-year-old Mettelus Epps as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

Police said Epps was taken into custody on June 4, 2026. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
