A Columbus man is facing charges following a child sexual abuse material investigation.

Following the investigation, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, along with the MCSO Collaborative Intelligence Group, executed a search warrant in Muscogee County.

As a result, investigators arrested John Paul Van Etten and charged him with five counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children.

“We have said it before and we will say it again, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate crimes of this nature against our children,” the sheriff’s office said. “Not on our watch! The MCSO remains committed to ensuring a safer Muscogee County for all Citizens.”
