The Columbus Police Department has released the results of a focused enforcement operation conducted in Uptown Columbus on June 5-6, aimed at improving public safety and addressing quality-of-life concerns in the popular entertainment district.
Throughout the two-day effort, officers maintained a visible presence in the area, engaged with local businesses and community members, conducted traffic enforcement, and addressed concerns involving unsupervised minors and disruptive behavior.
According to the department, officers responded to 13 dispatched calls for service and conducted 86 self-initiated traffic stops during the operation. Officers issued 13 citations and 44 warning citations.
Police also made contact with 138 adults and 75 minors while completing 28 business contacts and 13 police reports. The operation resulted in eight adult arrests.
In addition, officers recovered approximately 3.5 grams of marijuana and three vape devices.
Authorities said several incidents involving minors were addressed throughout the weekend. In multiple cases, officers encountered young teens who were unsupervised and unable to contact a parent or guardian. Officers worked to identify the minors and ensure they were safely returned home.
The Columbus Police Department said it will continue partnering with business owners, residents, and community stakeholders to address disruptive behavior, enhance public safety, and ensure Uptown Columbus remains a welcoming destination for visitors and residents alike.
