Firefighters from Lee and Macon counties contain Loachapoka house fire in under 20 minutes

Firefighters from Lee and Macon counties quickly contained a structure fire at a home in Loachapoka on Saturday morning.

According to the Southwest Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 8:44 a.m. on July 4.

Additional assistance was requested from the Farmville Volunteer Fire Department and the Notasulga Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived, they found a double-wide modular home with heavy smoke showing. Crews immediately launched an aggressive interior fire attack while simultaneously conducting a primary search of the residence to ensure no one was trapped inside.

Officials said no victims were inside the home at the time of the fire.

The blaze was brought under control in less than 20 minutes.

There were no civilian injuries reported. One firefighter was evaluated for heat-related issues at the scene.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
