A pursuit on Interstate 85 in Coweta County ended Thursday evening after a suspect traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph crashed and overturned, according to information shared by Newnan Coweta Scanner Traffic.
The pursuit was reported on southbound I-85 near mile marker 44. The suspect was reportedly driving a black Audi and reached speeds of more than 120 mph while passing vehicles and traveling through the emergency lane.
According to scanner traffic, the suspect continued south through the Grantville area, crossed multiple lanes of traffic and passed the Forest Road Bridge before continuing toward Hogansville.
The suspect was reportedly still traveling at speeds above 100 mph near Hogansville. A stop-stick attempt was made but was unsuccessful.
Shortly afterward, the suspect crashed in a rollover accident.
The suspect was taken into custody following the crash.
As of the latest information, all southbound lanes of I-85 were blocked except for the emergency lane while authorities worked at the scene.
Drivers traveling through the area are urged to use caution and expect significant delays.
