A large law enforcement and emergency response is underway Monday afternoon at Plant Yates on Dyer Road as authorities investigate a possible bomb threat.
The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said there is currently a large police presence at the Georgia Power Plant Yates facility, located at 708 Dyer Road, and urged the public to avoid the area if possible.
According to information shared by Newnan Coweta Scanner Traffic, a full evacuation of the plant and surrounding area was underway around 2:07 p.m. as law enforcement and fire crews responded.
Workers who contacted Newnan Coweta Scanner Traffic reported they were told a written threat had been discovered involving ongoing construction at the plant. Authorities have not publicly confirmed the contents or credibility of the alleged threat.
The situation remains active, and officials are urging anyone in the area to follow evacuation orders and avoid Dyer Road.
