Firefighters from Smiths Station and Salem responded to a reported structure fire Tuesday evening in the 10000 block of Lee Road 240.

The call was received at approximately 7:10 p.m. EDT on Sept. 1, 2026.

According to Smiths Station Fire Chief Blake Green, the first-arriving unit confirmed a working fire, with light smoke visible from the roof.

Firefighters investigated the structure and determined that the residents had already extinguished the fire before crews arrived.

Additional Smiths Station and Salem units responded to the scene and conducted overhaul operations to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and that no hidden fire remained.

The cause of the fire is currently listed as undetermined.





No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
Photos from the scene show significant fire damage along the exterior of the structure, including damage around a window and section of the exterior wall. Burned debris and damaged insulation were also visible near the base of the building.
