Two Columbus Police officers were injured early Saturday morning after police say a woman stabbed both officers while they were responding to a disturbance involving neighbors.

According to the Columbus Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:21 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, to the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard regarding a dispute between neighbors.

Police said officers resolved the initial dispute, but 22-year-old Makayla Jacobson allegedly caused another disturbance while officers were still at the scene.

When two officers approached Jacobson to take her into custody, police said she retrieved a knife and stabbed both officers.

Both officers were transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional with non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, both officers were treated and later released from the hospital.

Jacobson was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, two counts of felony obstruction and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

The Columbus Police Department said its Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.

Jacobson is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, at 8 a.m.
