A large brush fire is burning in the Dixie community of Russell County.

The fire is taking place in the 100 block of Gullatt Road, several miles north of U.S. Highway 80.

Numerous volunteer firefighters from Dixie, Crawford and Beauregard are on the scene working to extinguish the blaze.

Heavy smoke and flames could be seen billowing from the area.

This fire comes less than a day after crews extinguished a blaze in the same area.

The Alabama Forestry Commision has been requested to the scene.

The area is closed while first responders conduct fire operations.
