HURRICANE ISAIAS IMPACTS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Central vs. Smiths Station moved to Saturday, Northside game canceled

Hurricane Isaias has forced schedule changes for two high school football games involving Chattahoochee Valley teams originally scheduled for Friday night.

The Smiths Station Panthers announced that their Backyard Brawl matchup against the Central Red Devils, scheduled for TC Britton Field at Panther Stadium, has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 10, at 11 a.m. CST due to inclement weather.

Smiths Station officials said the team will continue to provide updates through social media if any additional postponements become necessary.

Meanwhile, the Northside Patriots announced that their road game against Creekside has been canceled due to Hurricane Isaias. The game will be rescheduled for a later date, but a new date has not yet been announced.

Northside players are still encouraged to pick up their pregame meals at the originally scheduled time despite the cancellation.

The schedule changes come as Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall, damaging winds, flooding and other hazardous weather conditions across parts of Alabama and Georgia.
